What? Just what?

I'm often subject to a need for considerable catching up now when I come to work at the Store seeing as how I now work one night a week. So I get there this week and I see a paddy wagon parked out front. First thing that comes to mind is, "Oh how funny! We were robbed!" But no. No there nothing even remotely that interesting going on. No instead a policeman was just paying his third visit in search of one of the employees because he apparently was fingered as contact for a wanted graffiti artist in the area. I'm guessing it must've been a slow week in the city if an all out investigation was sent to find any leads for a graffiti artist. The employee even had his belongings searched for any sign of spray paint paraphernalia. Really? I mean seriously? So the employee works in a store that sells spray paint. Is that a dead lock confirmation that the two are in cahoots? It's not exactly like this is the only Store that sells spray paint either.

So that bit of excitement was wrapped up in maybe an hour or so and things settled back down. I thought it a good opportunity to verify that my availability took effect. I logged into the robotic scheduling program to see how the following week looked. Well it looked pretty damn empty. That's how it looked. I wasn't scheduled for a single day. I mentioned the sardonic hilarity of the situation to my closing manager. She checked the schedule printed off in the office. Strangely enough, that schedule told a much different story. For that one I was scheduled for my only available Wednesday . . . except it was also wrong. I set my availability for 5:00 p.m. to close since I didn't get off my other job until 4:00, and that was when things went according to plan. Seeing as how I didn't get out of work Friday until 4:47, a shift that started at the Store at 4:00 p.m. would hardly seem feasible. So the closing manager said she would leave a note with the Big Man. But I find it weird that a Company that says relies on the decisions of a mindless robot would suddenly permit Store managers to bypass them willy nilly. I don't really know who's completely responsible for this mess, but it seems that regardless of who's at fault, neither know how to read availability.

"We're opening 50 new stores this year" ? How about just allowing enough payroll to the ones you have?
